School uniform is something that the community of Montrose Academy feel very strongly about. A large majority of pupils, staff and parents all agreed that uniform greatly enhances school ethos and makes a significant contribution to the purposeful, hard-working mindset we are trying to encourage in the school. It indicates respect for the school and an appreciation of the value of education.
The expected standard of uniform for all pupils is:
- White shirt and school tie
- Black trousers/black skirt (no black jeans, leggings, jeggings or denim)
- Black shoes or black trainers (no coloured trainers)
- Blazer
For details on how to purchase school uniform (school ties and blazers), or financial support to do so, please contact the school office.

We are well aware that young people can put their parents under extreme pressure to be allowed to wear what they want. This can be stressful for all concerned, as well as expensive. Adherence by all to the school uniform removes this source of tension, during the school day at least.
