Head Teacher Message
Mr M. Smart, Montrose Academy's new Head Teacher, discusses the school “Vision”; supporting young people and preparing them for the future and the change of the weekly timetable to a 33 period week.
Montrose Academy has a wide range of extra-curricular activities. Extra-curricular sports and activities promote healthy habits for life and enhance the ethos of the school through clubs and teams
The faculty of Expressive and Performing Arts consists of the subjects of Art, Drama and Music. In S1, pupils will receive one period of Music and two periods of Art a week. In S2, pupils have one period of Music, one period of Drama and two periods of Art. In S3, pupils can only choose one of the Expressive and Performing Arts and will receive three periods a week. Pupils in the senior phase can choose Music and Art or Drama and Art if they so wish and will study each subject for five periods a week. They are offered every SQA level at each subject. Especially in the Junior phase, we try to link the subjects together, e.g. the mask project.
